On Distribution

The fundamentals of driving an app or a game are being focused and having it ready for launch. For FunPlus, they like to do geo testing where they can acquire users to work on fine tuning their app. They look at KPIs like tutorials, monetization and retention and once it’s ready, they take it out for distribution. This is the process that Mike advices developers to do as you only have one chance to launch. If you ever go with an advertising channel, look at each as a cohort, meaning, you can see the source as well as the metrics associated with the users you are acquiring form that channel as there are a lots of easy ways to spend money in here but not get any returns.

On Monetization

In terms of monetization, what you really want to see, over time, are the number of users you have gained versus initial revenue. You have to look at monetization long term. You should be able to retain your paying users who come in early and add in additional paying users to be able to stack in revenue and climb the charts.  Between this, merchandising, sales, events will also be very important.
