Coming is a coaching call with a listener about his new VR game. We discuss how to soft launch a game on a budget, marketing strategies and how much you should invest in your new game.
Soft Launching on a Budget
For games, my suggestion is to do a quick soft launch to see how people respond to the app. You can use TouchArcade or other forums and get people to check your game out and give honest feedback and reviews by giving out a prize. About $50, more or less, can get you what you need.
You can also market your game more by approaching Apple and pitching to them so you will get featured. You have nothing to lose in doing this so don’t hesitate to reach out to the press.
Big game companies would rely on metrics in determining whether or not to invest in a game. They would look at things objectively and make decisions from the numbers, whereas, indie developers would tend to be subjective and go with their gut feelings. So once you decide on getting your app out in the market, strategize on how you will monetize.
